Quite a bit of information shared at Mass this morning. First, a message from Archbishop Schnurr:

What it all boils down to plus a few best practices:

• If you are sick or someone in your home is sick, please stay home.
• If you're concerned about passing on the virus to a vulnerable peson, please stay home.
• When attending Mass, please try to observe "social distancing" when choosing where to sit down outside of your own family. "Social distancing" means to try to leave a minimum of 6 feet around you when seated.
• The church is not considering your failure to attend Mass through March 29th a sin.
• It is the church's intention to keep Mass times unchanged, and if at all possible that is what will happen.
• No holding hands during the Our Father.
• No shaking hands as a sign of peace.
• No taking Holy Communion from the chalice.
• No taking Holy Communion on the tongue.

Use some common sense. If you have doubt of your health status, please stay home. If unable to attend Mass, consider this link to watch a LiveStream Mass at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral in Cincinnati. After consultation with the governor and health officials, the Bishops of Ohio are convinced of the need to take the following necessary action:

• Temporary suspension of all public Masses through Easter in the state of Ohio. This is effective immediately.
• The archdiocesan website will be live-streaming a daily Mass and weekend Mass from the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains.  Daily Mass will be available online at 8:00 AM Monday through Saturday and Sunday Mass will be live-streamed at 11:00 AM https://www.stpeterinchainscathedral.org/
• All live-streaming Masses will also be available on the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CatholicCincinnati/
• Daily Masses are also available on TV from EWTN. Click here to find the cable channel.

More information will be shared in the coming days.

There is nothing wrong with the daily masses that are being streamed from St Peters in Chains Cathedral in Cinicinnati. However, the view is very wide and descibed by some as hard to watch. The big update of the day is that  the  Catholic Bishops of Ohio have extended the temporary suspension of all publicly celebrated Masses/liturgies through and including Sunday, May 3. The Bishops of Ohio dispense the Catholic faithful who reside in their respective dioceses, along with all other Catholics currently in Ohio, from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass during this time period. While this is a decision that excites no one, it is made out of deep concern for the common good of the people of Ohio. We need to keep in mind the advise of Pope Francis, that while “social distancing” may be necessary during this time of pandemic, it needs to be countered by an increase in “spiritual closeness” with Jesus and each other.
