This is your source for information regarding Kroger's closing of its Needmore Rd store. We will update this space as often as possible with news as we are made aware of it. We won't be including rumors or heresay, just the facts as we know them. Each update will start with a date.
10/27/19 Thank you very much to Sheriff Rob Streck and Captain Dave Parin from the Montgomery County Sheriff's office for attending our informational meeting this afternoon at McAuley Hall following mass. Queen of Martyrs' Parish Council approved the action just 10 days before this meeting which was led by Sandy Prikkel. There was representation from our congregation as well as several members of nearby neighborhoods. One of the fears of such an undertaking is duplicating the efforts of another group. Here is a list of topics that were covered:
Sheriff Streck and Captain Parin shared they had already contacted WRTA about bus routes from Northridge to Kroger at 3520 W Siebenthaler Ave. This is something Sandy had on her list to do but she can now check this off her list. This will be a big help for folks who are able to do their own shopping but don't have a way to get there.
Jim Zeller, of Zeller Management, Inc, heads the management group for the North Plaza Shopping Center. Jim gave us a brief update on the future of the complex. Negotiations with the insurance company are ongoing and it may take some time before the property is ready for re-development, although no timetable was given.
Sheriff Streck and Captain Parin were asked whether The Living Room or Plush Gentleman's Club would be reopening. They stated without their liquor licenses it was very unlikely this would happen, and Jim Zeller stated the owner of the Living Room had already informed him he will not be back.
It was discussed about the future development of North Plaza Shopping Center for grocery. Jim Zeller mentioned he had spoken with several possible suitors but there was nothing currently to report.
